Americans protest fracking as Obama cheers for it
At Tuesday’s State of the Union address, US President Barack Obama did not seem to see a problem with fracking.
As fossil fuels are used up at record speeds, Obama announced from Washington this week, “We have a supply of natural gas that can last America nearly 100 years, and my administration will take every possible action to safely develop this energy.” According to the president, the fracking industry could create more than 600,000 jobs by the end of the decade and would have in place a clean alternative to oil processing. He proposed an “all-out, all-of-the-above” policy to tackle the country’s resources on all fronts in the best way possible, but while he suggested that fracking was the be-all to end-all answer to America’s energy woes, the reality is that rampant drilling could cause some serious repercussions.
In addition to adding carcinogens into the atmosphere, scientists earlier this month finally linked fracking to an outbreak of earthquakes in the state of Ohio. The Youngstown, OH region saw 11 small tremors in a matter of months after a year of drilling, prompting an investigation by specialists — and the results were far from favorable.
“This one year of pumping is a pulse that has been pushed into the ground, and it’s going to be spreading out for at least a year,” John Armbruster of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory tells the Associated Press.
fracking causes earth quakes… or earth distruction. as well as dirtying clean natural water… which is illegal to collect and drink on your own anyways, but i digress. we live in a society in which we only give a fuck when its happening to us… and the politicians know this. they also know that when they slowly erode your rights whether its for capitalistic venture or just to see if you notice that by the time you fight what is already made LEGAL its too late. its harder. its supported by jobs now. its supported by lobbyists from this new industry that are also contributing to politicians reelection funds.
its like taking a stroll down a mountain while you watch other people tumble down the same mountain, then a politician taking the stroll with you trips your selfish ass down the mountain and no one is there to help you up. because you were silent while people were getting pitched down the side.
we have to stop this shit before its too late. even if its not in your backyard… once you allow it ANYWHERE it will inevitably end up in your backyard.

Michele Bachman blames Obama for the Arab Spring. Yes, 'blames.'
Michele Bachmann says the wave of democratic uprisings in the Middle East is because of Barack Obama. Well, all right, if you say so - but Bachmann didn’t mean it as a compliment. No, in Michele Bachmann’s mind, this is a very bad thing:
At a campaign stop Thursday in North Carolina, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann blamed Pres. Barack Obama for the outbreak of the Arab Spring, the wave of democracy uprisings across the Middle East.
[…]
Bachman linked the Arab Spring, which has resulted in pro-democracy uprisings in countries like Egypt, Syria and Libya, to the President’s earlier stance that negotiations between Israel and Palestine should begin at the 1967 boundaries.
“And when he called upon Israel to retreat to it’s indefensible 1967 boarders, don’t you think that message wasn’t lost to Israel’s 26 hostile neighbors,” Bachmann said. “You want to know why we have a Arab Spring. Barack Obama has laid the table for Arab Spring by demonstrating weakness from the United States of America.”
So, for Bachmann, citizens in the Middle East rising up against dictatorships to demand democracy is a bad thing. Why exactly? I’m not sure. It appears that democracy and jihad are indistinguishable to Bachmann; given her constant supposition that forcing her own religious beliefs on the rest of America constitutes freedom and democracy, however, I suppose it is understandable that she can’t quite grasp the difference.

We talk about democracy so much, but we have supported so many governments around the world that are the farthest thing from a democracy, as long as they give us access to their natural resources. As long as when we say jump, they say how high. That’s it. We have employed bin Ladens plenty of times, when it serves our purpose. We employed Saddam Hussein when it served our purposes. And I say ‘we’ because we are the people that have a responsibility to change that sort of behavior in this country. And if we don’t, we will suffer the same fate as everything that never evolved. We will become extinct as a species. That’s your fuckin’ option. Change and get better and accept that this system is flawed and needs to be changed, or become extinct
